Read Aloud
Being always our goal to improve our child’s reading and comprehension skills, every year the Read-Aloud Volunteer Program recruits from our community adult volunteers to read aloud to children providing this special experience to our students.
24th St. Theater - TAPA
Hoop-A -Thon
On our well deserved year event we had Hula Hoops and free throw basketball. Together, students and teachers shaped their waist and shoot free throws to make as many baskets as they can. It is important to note that this was not a competition . This was about teamwork and supporting our school and each other.
Rope Masters
Alborada
Nudging the Imagination with Tall Tales
love-magical happenings.
Ballet
Ballet is a highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary. Primarily performed with the accompaniment of classical music, it is also can include mime and acting. This formalized form of dance originated in the French court and is now taught gracefully at our school
by Mrs. Barnett.
Art Night
A family art night is a wonderful way to get families involved in supporting art. Once again we were overwhelmed with the Burbank family.
African Acrobats
Once again we were thrilled in this school assembly program. We enjoy the African acrobatics, the limbo, contortions, human pyramid building, juggling and balancing of these magnificent people as well as some Kenyan language.
Living Rythm
Exposure to diverse cultural arts open our minds to understanding others. Imagining the possibilities at the Living Rhythm Workshop, students develop listening and communication skills, explored individual and cultural diversity, stimulated self expression and spontaneity, improved coordination and motor skills, built individual and group confidence, discovered musicianship and performance abilities, encouraged team work and had fun!
Dance and Music.... Ole!
Enhancing our instruction and arts lessons, our magnet program presented in our first year’s assembly, The Flamenco, instructed by Juan Talavera and the Flamenco Bravo. Our students were able to learn about the history, origin music, and movements, behind the intricate Flamenco. They have been able to share these experiences with classmates, teachers, family, and even their principal. You can witness the growth in our students pool of knowledge within our magnet art program.
Poetry Alive!
Burbank was fortunate to have Poetry Alive. They brought poetry alive to the students by actually engaging them in the poems. Studying poetry with music built an appreciation for poetry and helps students to self-actualize improvement in reading and writing.
